Crossing America in a Ford Maverick: Arizona to Lake Michigan Adventure

There’s something inherently American about the open road – wind in your hair, endless miles ahead, and the roar of a dependable truck beneath you. That’s exactly the kind of journey I embarked on when I took my Ford Maverick from the rugged beauty of Arizona to the tranquil shores of Lake Michigan.

Preparing the Ford Maverick for the Journey

Before I set off, I gave my Maverick a full tune-up. This included:

  • Fresh oil change and brake check
  • Tire rotation and air pressure check
  • Fluid top-offs and battery inspection

But more importantly, I decked out the Maverick with a few road-trip-ready upgrades:

The Route: From Red Rocks to Freshwater Shores

Starting near Sedona, I cruised through New Mexico, Colorado, Iowa, and into Michigan. Stops included Route 66 diners, state parks, and even a quick detour through Chicago. Every state brought something new and beautiful to explore.

Arrival at Lake Michigan

After days on the road, I reached Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore. I parked on a dune, pulled open the tonneau cover, and set up camp by the lake. The Ford Maverick handled it all smoothly, safely, and stylishly. It was more than a road trip -it was a statement.
